City Seeking Applicants for Student Representation on the Parks and Recreation Commission
Fillmore Unified School District students interested in serving on the City of Fillmore Parks and Recreation Commission are invited to apply by Wednesday, October 31, 2018.
Parks and Recreation Commission:
Two (2) student advisor seats with one (1) year terms expiring November, 2019. The purpose of the Parks and Recreation Commission is to advise and assist the city in all matters pertaining to public parks and recreation including; policies and plans for the care and conduct of all public parks owned or operated by the city; plan for, study and recommend to the city council the site location, acquisition, development and maintenance of public park and recreational facilities; and, advise the city council on the annual budget for park and recreation programs. The student position is an advisory only position and does not having Commission voting rights.
QUALIFICATIONS: Members are appointed by the Mayor & serve at the pleasure of the city council. The students (non-voting members ages 14-19) shall reside within the boundaries of the Fillmore Unified School District boundary.
The seven (7) member Commission generally meets the third Monday of each month at 6:30 at Fillmore City Hall.
Local students interested in being considered for appointment to the commission must submit a Citizen Advisory Group/City Commission Applicant Information Form no later than 4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, to the City Clerk’s Office, Fillmore City Hall, 250 Central Avenue, Fillmore, CA. 93015. Appointments will be made by the mayor, with approval of the city council, following an interview with and recommendation from the City Council Interview/Selection Committee.
