Parks and Recreation Commission

 Persons interested in serving on the City of Fillmore Parks and Recreation Commission are invited to apply as soon as possible.  Applications will be accepted until vacancies are filled and any received afterwards will be kept on file. 

Parks and Recreation Commission:

Five positions on the Parks and Recreation Commission will be filled: three (3) seats with four (4) year terms expiring January 31, 2023, and two (2) student advisor seats with one (1) year terms expiring June, 2020. The purpose of the Parks and Recreation Commission is to advise and assist the city in all matters pertaining to public parks and recreation including; policies and plans for the care and conduct of all public parks owned or operated by the city; plan for, study and recommend to the city council the site location, acquisition, development and maintenance of public park and recreational facilities; and, advise the city council on the annual budget for park and recreation programs.

QUALIFICATIONS: Members are appointed by the Mayor & serve at the pleasure of the city council. A minimum of four members of the commission shall be residents of the City. No more than one member may be a resident of any incorporated or unincorporated part of the county of Ventura.  The students (non-voting members ages 14-19) shall reside within the boundaries of the Fillmore Unified School District.

The seven (7) member Commission generally meets the third Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at Fillmore City Hall.

Appointments will be made by the mayor, with approval of the city council, following an interview with and recommendation from the City Council Interview/Selection Committee.
