Nomination Period Opens for Fillmore City Council

Two City Council Seats on November 7 Ballot

Fillmore citizens seeking nomination as a candidate for the Fillmore City Council may obtain and file nomination papers at Fillmore City Hall beginning Monday, July 17.

Prospective candidates have until August 11 at 5 p.m. to file nomination papers, unless an incumbent (current) member of the city council does not file, in which case the nomination period would be extended to August 16 at 5 p.m. only for non-incumbents.

Nomination papers may be obtained in the City Clerk’s office in Fillmore City Hall between the hours of 8:45 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Nominees must obtain between 20 to 30 signatures of registered voters to qualify for the ballot. Candidates must be registered voters of the City and must be 18 years of age at the time they take office. There is no cost to pull nomination papers or to file, although candidates wishing to publish the optional candidate’s statement will be required to provide a deposit covering the cost of publishing their statement.

Two seats on the City Council will be on the November 7 municipal ballot. Both seats have four-year terms.

Interested persons are urged to contact Administrative Assistant Angela Mendez at (805) 524-1500, extension 269, or Administrative Services Manager Steve McClary at (805) 524-1500, extension 211 for further information.
