The Building & Safety Department is intended to provide standards to safeguard life, limb, health, property, and public welfare by regulating and controlling the use, occupancy, location and maintenance of buildings and properties in accordance with City Council approved Municipal Code provisions. In addition, this department is responsible for the enforcement of local and state ordinances with regard to any other public violations or issues.
Code enforcement involved investigation of violations and other problems which effect citizens of the City of Fillmore. Corrective actions involve oral and written correspondence identifying areas of violation and concern, and agreeing to corrective actions within time limits. Non-compliance is met with progressively escalated enforcement action, commencing with request for voluntary compliance, up through criminal prosecution, among other resources.
NOTICE: Building permits can only be issued to owner/builder and contractors. Building permits cannot be issued to future property owners without written current property owner consent.
